It is with very heavy hearts, that we, at Salon Platinum, must say goodbye to our co-worker, and our friend, Richard Bouchard. Richard's untimely passing was on March 3, 2024, after a brief hospitalization.

Many questions and speculations have been voiced regarding Richard's passing. We must respect Richard's privacy, and instead, remember him for his unwavering kindness, his soft-spoken voice (with a hint of a southern drawl), his keen sense of humor, and his understated wit.

​

Twelve years ago, Richard joined the "family" of Salon Platinum after closing his long-standing salon on Siesta Key. Richard's extensive career in hairstyling spanned over five decades, and included his training in Paris and other countries throughout Europe.

​

Outside the salon, Richard was also dedicated in serving the community. He served as a Past Exalted Ruler (PER) for the Sarasota South Elks #2495 Lodge, supporting veterans and children in the local community. Some of the causes he supported were Toys for Tots, St. Mary Academy, Infinite Heroes, Veteran Stand Down events, and various other local charities.

Richard's true passion was his dedication to beautifying the people of Sarasota one hairstyle at time. Though Richard will no longer be standing behind his platformed styling chair, his memory and spirit will live on and be with each and every one of us.

At this time, there is no date for Richard's Celebration of Life. We will update this page with the information when the arrangements are confirmed.

Richard, we will miss you every day. Until we meet again in the Heavenly Salon, Goodbye Richard, from all of us at Salon Platinum.
